Education

I am a highly qualified elemntary school teacher.  I graduated from UNC Charlotte with a B.A. in Elementary Education and a concentration in Mathematics.

Experience

I have two years of classroom experience.  I have experience teaching all subjects in 4th grade and integrating technology into instruction from Mooresville Intermediate School.  I also have experience teaching math and science abroad in Rwanda to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.  This is my first time teaching in Onslow County, and I am very excited to catch the wave with the rest of my students!  I am currently teaching 4th grade math and science.

Bio

Hello, and welcome to my teacher page!

My name is Natalie Youngs.  I have ad the opportunity to work in Mooresville Intermediate School, a school that has the honor of being nationally recognized for integrating technology into classroom instruction.   When given the opportunity to join the Dixon Elementary School family, I could hard wait to move down here from Mooresville and become a part of this vibrant school community.  I am looking forward to my first year here in Onslow County, and I cannot wait to help my students become more confident in math and in their leadership!

My Background . . .

Before I started teaching, I pursued a degree in Electrical Engineering at UNC Charlotte.  After three years of study I discovered I had more joy teaching my classmates than I did building machines!  I followed my new love to a teaching opportunity at Excella School in Kigali, Rwanada.  I taught math and science to local students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.  This fostered a passion for teaching that is still going strong today.  I seek to bring my international experience into the classroom and help inspire students to look how they can make an impact in the world at large.  I set high expectations for my students.  Fourth grade is a big year for foundational skills that will set up the success of students for the rest of their math careers.
