Fighting World Hunger

The first grade teachers and students are so excited to be fighting world hunger!   All first graders are completing math and reading questions via the website Free Rice.  For every question we answer correctly we earn 10 pieces of rice.  The first grade team's goal is to earn 26,000 pieces of rice by December 15th.  Check out the website for more info.

First grade is also leading the charge with a school wide service learning project.  As we learn more about global communities we'll be raising money for the organization Rise Against Hunger.  Once the school raises $3,000 we will receive food kits that our own 1st grade students will pack.  These kits will then be sent to hungry communities around the world.  DES students can help by paying $1.00 to participate in special dress up days.
