Homework will be recorded in agendas on Monday. Questions for reading homework and options for spelling homework are stapled in the homework folder. Please use this list and activities to complete homework weekly. A Math sheet will be sent on Monday. All homework is due Friday morning. Reading and spelling homework should be completed in a notebook and left inside the notebook. Please do not tear pages out. Additional information on completing the reading responses will be located on the question stem sheet. Questions for nonfiction reading are located on the back of the fiction stem sheet. Each question should be a separate entry. Please choose different questions each week as your child needs to be able to respond to a variety of questions on the assessments. Your child should read 15-20 minutes nightly and record the title and  pages or chapter read in their agenda Monday- Thursday. Your child is responsible for 2 written spelling activities and 2 written reading responses each week.

Drive 4 Your School

Sanders Ford in Jacksonville is heading up a campaign to help our school.  If you go to Sanders Ford in Jacksonville between 11:00 and 2:00 and test drive a car they will donate $ 20.00 to our school.  Be sure to tell them you are test driving for Dixon Elementary.

Although your child only has to turn in 2 written spelling assignments weekly, they should be encouraged to work with their spelling words nightly. Currently spelling words are connected by word families. Encourage your child to listen for and hear the PARTS of the word and recognize the chunk/family versus each individual letter. This will make it easier for them to learn more difficult words as time passes.
